Diamond School of Performing Arts Review Shows

Over the years, Diamond Theatre School have performed well known productions at Stantonbury Campus Theatre. However, this was only possible with Sunday rehearsals which unfortunately all students could not attend due to various other commitments. We, therefore, decided to hold annual review shows where all students would get the chance to display the progress they have made over the year - these do not entail Sunday rehearsals. Diamond Theatre School Review Shows are now an annual event in our school calendar but of course will now become Diamond School of Performing Arts Review Show.

Diamond School of Performing Arts Charity, Community and Corporate Shows and Displays

We are heavily involved with numerous community, charity and corporate events (see list below). These give our students a fantastic opportunity to get out there and perform in front of live audiences using the skills they learn in the classroom as well as educating them in the importance of the community. Students put their all into all events, whether it be for a large corporate company, a charity event, a school fete or a senior citizen home - they never let their standards slip. These events are so valuable in a student's learning curve - often no luxury of onsite rehearsals and having to work with systems they have never set eyes on but they rise to the occasion each time. With the experience and help of longer term students, the newer ones build up their confidence very quickly to give stunning performances too. We are extremely proud of the input of our students and receive beautiful feedback.

Diamond School of Performing Arts High School Musical October 2008

We worked on a couple of numbers from High School Musical with our little ones and many saw MKCTC's production at MK Theatre. They were so full of it and before I realised what I was saying, I'd asked if they'd like to do their own version - I've never seen such enthusiasm. The result is they are doing their own show in Stantonbury Campus Theatre on Thursday 2nd October 7pm, Friday 3rd October 5pm and Saturday 4th October 2pm and 5pm. Our students who were in the MKCTC's Junior cast will perform on Friday 3rd October at 8pm and Saturday 4th October at 8pm.

Milton Keynes Community Theatre Company

Another opportunity immediately arose though for those who wanted and missed Sunday rehearsals. This being the birth of Milton Keynes Community Theatre Company. A large number of DTS students have taken part in their productions - of course with Sundays rehearsals. Productions to date include West Side Story (Citizen Go Readers Award Best Local Play 2002), Annie (Citizen Go Readers Award Best Local Play 2003), Bugsy (Citizen Go Readers Award Best Local Play 2004) The Wiz in January 2006 (Go Awards No longer in existence) and most recently High School Musical in Aprill 2008) Not only do these productions give the students the opportunity to work in Milton Keynes Theatre alongside professional crew members, they also have the opportunity to perform with many other youngsters and adults who live in and around Milton Keynes. This is an invaluable and thoroughly enjoyable experience for all concerned.
